How Does Caffeine Consumption Affect Your Health?

Find out how caffeine affects your body.

March is National Caffeine Awareness Month.  As the name suggests, this month is dedicated to educating the public about the health implications of caffeine consumption.  Curious to learn how caffeine affects your body?  Then here's what you should know. According to health and nutrition experts, consuming a daily maximum of 400 mg of caffeine can be part of a healthy diet.  For reference, 400 mg translates into about four small cups of coffee or about ten cups of tea.  In healthy doses, caffeine has positive health implications.  For instance, caffeine has been linked to improved memory, the detoxification of your liver, improved hair growth, and the soothing of muscle pain. However, caffeine can start to have negative health impacts when consumed in large doses.  For instance, too much caffeine can cause feelings of anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, high blood pressure, and accelerated heart rate, just to name a few. Please keep in mind that everybody's tolerance is different.  While some people may be able to consume more than the recommended daily dose of caffeine without negative side effects, some may start to experience adverse effects even when consuming small doses of caffeine.  So, make sure that you are aware of your own limitations and do your best to remain in a healthy range. The bottom line is that in moderate doses, caffeine can be a healthy part of your diet.  However, just like most things, overindulgence could have harmful effects.  This March, take care of yourself by monitoring your caffeine intake.  Want another way to safeguard yourself this month?  Then make sure you have the right insurance protection in place.  For assistance with all of your insurance needs, contact the experts at East End Insurance Agency today.
